Jacksonville, FL 1910: A Decade After The Great Fire
Not quite 10 years has passed and you can see that Jacksonville doesn't look any worse for the wear after the great fire in 1901. In this view on Forsythe Street looking west from downtown you can see the Jones Bros. Furniture store on the left across from the Hotel Windle on the right. Two note worthy things to notice merit a closer look if you click on the picture and zoom your browser to 200%: (1) you can see city issued tags for the automobiles visible in the photo, and (2) note the not so modern Hotel Windle transporation system for their guests as they still employ a horse and carriage as a means of transport no doubt to and from the local train station.
